The inauguration of the new upstream jetty took at the Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue Canal National Historic Site took place on June 14, 2021.
The City of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue worked in close partnership with Parks Canada to ensure that the new jetty reflects a mutual concern for the environment. In fact, the use of new materials made the jetty flood resistant, and more importantly, significantly reduce the heat island effect by removing asphalt.
The upstream jetty of the Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue Canal National Historic Site had been closed to the public since the fall of 2016. While rehabilitation work had been undertaken, flooding in the spring of 2017 heavily damaged its structure and surface.
The new jetty will undoubtedly become, or become again, an essential stop in our beautiful city to admire the beauty of the landscape that surrounds us.
